Ferro Silicon Nitride (FeSiN) is a dual-purpose ferroalloy whose main crystalline phase is β-Si₃N₄ grown around an Fe₃Si metallic core. It behaves like pure silicon nitride (Si₃N₄) at roughly half the cost. The Fe₃Si iron phase actively promotes sintering and acts as a plastic phase during hot processing — a performance mechanical Si₃N₄ mix cannot replicate.
Our single-grade specification (TN≥30%) is processed into two physical forms for distinct industrial applications:
-200 mesh, 90% pass rate
Gray-white or tea-brown powder for blast furnace taphole clay, iron trough castables, and Al₂O₃-SiC-C refractory mixes. Fe₃Si sintering core densifies the matrix, improves thermal shock resistance, and prevents over-hardening — keeping the taphole easy to open.
Result: Taphole service life extended, iron trough throughput increased, and taphole clay consumption reduced from 1.2kg to 0.5kg per ton of iron.
1-3mm / 10-50mm
Gray-white granular material for controlled nitrogen alloying in HRB400E rebar and grain-oriented silicon steel. Acts as an efficient microalloying agent, refining grain structure and boosting tensile strength.
Result: In HRB400E production, combining ferro silicon nitride with vanadium-nitrogen alloy replaces high-nitrogen vanadium-iron, reducing alloying cost by ~¥128 per ton of steel.

Ferro silicon nitride powder is an essential ingredient in modern blast furnace taphole clay. As the clay sinters at operating temperature, Fe₃Si promotes densification while β-Si₃N₄ decomposes to release N₂ gas, forming a porous network that absorbs tapping shocks.
Proven Results: At Baosteel (since 1994), taphole openings reduced from 18 to 12 per campaign; clay consumption dropped 58% from 1.2kg to 0.5kg per ton of iron.
In HRB400E production, ferro silicon nitride provides controlled nitrogen to refine austenite grain boundaries. Combined with small additions of vanadium-nitrogen alloy (0.24-0.35kg/t), it achieves equivalent precipitation strengthening as high-nitrogen vanadium-iron — but at a fraction of the cost. Standard dosage: 0.5kg/t.
Proven Results: Steel mills report cost savings of ~¥128/ton vs. traditional FeV50 single alloying; better ductility and consistent yield strength.
High-grade ferro silicon nitride granules introduce silicon and nitrogen without adding contaminating impurities (Al, Ca, Ti) that degrade magnetic properties. Critical for electrical steels used in EV drive motors and high-efficiency transformer cores.
Ferro silicon nitride powder enhances erosion resistance and thermal shock stability in Al₂O₃-SiC-C castables and ramming mixes. Replaces expensive pure Si₃N₄ while delivering comparable hot strength.
Same β-Si₃N₄ high-temperature performance at roughly half the price — the single biggest lever on refractory and alloy budgets.
TN≥30% specification covers both refractory powder and steelmaking granules. Single qualified supplier for blast furnace and melt-shop.
Continuously used in Chinese steel mills since the 1990s. ISO 9001 certified with full batch traceability and COA every shipment.
MOQ 20MT for standard specs; custom particle sizes and formulations. Worldwide shipping (FOB, CIF, DAP).

We supply one certified specification (TN≥30%, Si 47-52%, Fe 12-17%) processed into two physical forms: powder (for refractories) and granules (for steelmaking). Custom formulations with adjusted nitride content or impurity limits are available on request for large-volume orders.
They share the same chemical specification but differ in particle size and production process. Refractory grade is -200 mesh (90% pass rate) gray-white or tea-brown powder optimized for taphole clay dispersion. Steelmaking grade is 1-3mm or 10-50mm gray-white granular material for controlled nitrogen release during alloying.
Standard dosage is approximately 0.5kg per ton of steel. Our technical team can recommend precise addition rates based on your steel grade, existing microalloying scheme, and process conditions. For HRB400E, combining ferro silicon nitride (0.5kg/t) with vanadium-nitrogen alloy (0.24-0.35kg/t) has been proven to match or outperform high-nitrogen vanadium-iron alloying at significantly lower cost.
Ferro silicon nitride delivers β-Si₃N₄ high-temperature performance at approximately 50% the cost of pure silicon nitride. Unlike inert mechanical Si₃N₄ mixes, the Fe₃Si iron phase actively promotes sintering, densifying the clay matrix and preventing over-hardening. N₂ released during decomposition forms a porous network that absorbs tapping shocks and improves drillability.
